Statement from the Oneida Indian Nation on the Passing of Keller George
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Oneida Indian Nation Council Member Keller George (Wolf Clan).
Keller George, whose Oneida name Laluhtay^thos means Tree Planter, played an critical role in decisions related to the policy aspects of tribal government and the successful business enterprises of the Oneida Indian Nation.
Keller frequently represented the Nation within the Native American community as well, including serving six terms as President of the United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. before eventually being named President Emeritus.
In addition to his service to the Oneida Indian Nation, Keller was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War, and of the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
