The USET Climate Program, within the Office of Environmental Resource Management, is seeking a Tribal Nation host for the upcoming 2025 USET Climate Resilience Writing Retreat, a 3-day in-person event.
This retreat will bring together Tribal Nation staff and community members from across the USET region who are working on their communities’ climate adaptation/action plans or vulnerability assessments. The event will offer presentations relevant to Tribal Nations’ specific projects and participants will receive direct, real-time feedback during dedicated writing sessions. USET Climate Program staff and facilitators from both the Northeast and Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Centers will be on-site to guide and support attendees in advancing their work on these critical initiatives.
What is requested from a host Tribal Nation:
- Collaborating with USET staff to select an agreeable timeframe for the event, ideally in summer 2025.
- Identifying a venue that can comfortably host approximately 25 participants working in small groups for three full days (USET will cover venue costs).
- Suggesting speakers that could share about local environmental or cultural work.
- If possible, coordinating a short field trip to active climate resilience or land stewardship project(s) that the Tribal Nation is conducting or supporting (USET can cover trip costs).
If your Tribal Nation may be interested in hosting or attending the 2025 USET Climate Resilience Writing Retreat, please reach out to Breanna Knudsen, Climate Program Manager, at bknudsen@usetinc.org, and/or Dr. Steph Courtney, Assistant Tribal Climate Science Liaison, at scourtney@usetinc.org.
We look forward to hearing from you!
