Tribal Public Health Preparedness and Resilience is a Tribally-centered epidemiological approach to public health preparedness and resilience with the primary goal of strengthening the resilience of USET member Tribal Nations through public health strategies focused on the mitigation, prevention, and preparation phases of the disaster management cycle. The intention of the Task Force is an opportunity for Tribal Nations to work together and learn from one another on all public health preparedness topics and to break down the silos seen between health, environmental, and emergency management resources.
What: Attend tours of the University of Miami Marine Campus, Gordon Center, and Medical Campus, and participate in presentations about hurricanes. These tours will be led by experts from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science and Miller School of Medicine. Participants will be provided demonstrations and simulations, and future offerings/trainings will be discussed. Lunch and transportation are provided.
When and Where : October 8 at 7:45 am – 5:00 pm (Meet at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood at the Hollywood Tower at 7:45 am to utilize the transportation provided by USET.)

Learning Objectives:
- Experience the cutting-edge SUSTAIN Laboratory, featuring a state-of-the-art wind-wave tank. Witness the creation of category 5 hurricane force winds and observe water and wind interactions in a dynamic 3-D environment.
- Discover the latest research and strategies in hurricane preparedness and response.
- Delve into the science of extreme weather events.
- Receive detailed information on training offerings, including Active Shooter Response Training for First Responders, Unarmed Security, and Normal Personnel.

Travel Stipends: USET will provide a limited number of travel stipend for attendees designated by a USET member Tribal Nation to attend this event. The Tribal Nation will receive a stipend on your behalf to offset the cost of travel. Stipends are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please click this link to request a stipend.
