The U.S. Census Bureau, as part of the 2030 Census Enhancing External Engagement research project, is holding a series of Virtual Stakeholder Convening Sessions to collect best practices, discuss needs of engagement, and connect partners with other partners who might want to independently share ideas directly. The information collected from these forums will help further their research on outreach strategies and tools for external engagements.
he Census Bureau recognizes the knowledge and insights that state, regional and local community leaders bring to connecting with underserved populations. We are inviting those who serve their communities to join us for a virtual convening that most closely aligns with your professional affiliations and interests. These sessions are intended to help us learn from you and provide a forum where you can learn from one another so that together, we can ensure a complete and accurate count in the next census.
They are seeking leaders with prior experience working with the Census Bureau on decennial outreach campaigns. They equally welcome leaders with no prior engagement experience with the Census Bureau. They would like to explore with you why we didn’t reach you in 2020 and how they can ensure broader, more purposeful stakeholder engagement going forward.
The following topics will be discussed during this convening:
- Barriers and challenges of organizations not participating in the census
- Best way to reach those organizations in 2030
- Effective methods to engage your community, organizations and trusted voices to participate in census outreach efforts
- The changing landscape of organizing and community outreach
