Treasury has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing a Tribal consultation on an Interim Final Rule for the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF). The SLFRF allocates $20 billion for Tribal governments to support response and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency. In December 2022, Congress amended the SLFRF program in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 to provide additional flexibility for SLFRF recipients to use funds to respond to natural disasters, build critical infrastructure, and support community development. An Interim Final Rule for the SLFRF was published and became effective on August 9, 2023 to implement the SLFRF changes made in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. Treasury is now consulting and seeking comments on the Interim Final Rule.
