Southeast Tribal Emergency Management Planning Workshop

the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
Please note that we are working to schedule dates for a Northeast-focused workshop that will take place in the Northeast region (dates and location TBD).
What: USET would like to invite you and your staff to attend the Southeast Tribal Emergency Management Planning Workshop. For this workshop, the USET Climate Change Program and the USDA APHIS have partnered up to offer a regionally focused workshop that will introduce federally recognized Tribal Nations to the programs and opportunities that exist within USDA APHIS. Specific presentations and Tribal case study examples related to Emergency Response Planning Documents or ERPs will be the focus of workshop proceedings. Additionally, regionally prioritized issues and concerns of animal and plant health will be discussed by APHIS subject matter experts through interactive learning sessions.
When: May 3 – 5 at 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Central each day
Who Should Attend? Tribal natural resource and environmental professionals
Participants will:
- Learn about APHIS programs and funding opportunities for your Tribal Nation
- Take part in APHIS training sessions related to emergency response planning
- Learn about the 2018 Farm Bill funding opportunities and the application process
- Engage in Q&A sessions with APHIS representatives on the above mentioned items
USET will cover hotel and room tax (attendees are responsible for incidental charges) and can provide travel stipends to USET member Tribal Nation attendees, subject to available funds and prior approval.

As a reminder, the USET Tribal Epidemiology Center (TEC), a recognized public health authority, will ultimately provide USET with guidance and recommendations about any in-person USET meeting/event plans to ensure that our actions are in the best interests of the USET/USET SPF organization, its membership, and meeting attendees. Based on the USET TEC’s decision, it may be required to shift the event from in-person/hybrid to fully virtual and should this action be taken, proper notice will be provided.
