Rural Transit Resources: Building Capacity and Resilience in Rural and Tribal Communities
May 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) both have transportation-related grant programs and resources to support the vitality and well-being of rural and tribal communities. This webinar will raise awareness about the shared goals of these FTA and USDA programs and take steps toward breaking down barriers, coordinating, and leveraging each other’s resources.
Presenters will include staff from the FTA’s Office of Rural and Targeted Programs, USDA’s Rural Partners Network, and the National Rural Transit Assistance Program (NRTAP) – one of FTA’s technical assistance centers.
The target audience for this webinar is rural and tribal public transportation providers, state departments of transportation (DOTs), USDA staff and grantees, rural development organizations, and others involved in supporting rural communities.
Webinar Objectives:
- Inform FTA staff and grantees about USDA rural programs and transportation resources, and how they can get involved and collaborate with development organizations.
- Inform USDA staff and grantees about FTA and NRTAP resources, as well as how to identify the transportation needs in a community and how to approach transit project development and collaboration with rural transit.
- Determine next steps to further leveraging each other’s programs and resources to achieve our shared goals.
