Listening Session on Energy Access and Reliability on Tribal Lands
November 4, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm CDT
DOE Office of Indian Energy Seeks Tribal Input on Energy Access and Reliability on Tribal Lands Report to Congress
The Energy Act of 2020 included specific requirements for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to conduct research and report back to Congress on energy access and reliability on tribal lands.
To meet this requirement and develop a thorough and substantive report from the tribal perspective, the DOE Office of Indian Energy is holding a listening session to gather insights directly from tribal leaders and staff.
What: Listening Session on Energy Access and Reliability on Tribal Lands
Who: Tribal leaders and staff from energy, planning, natural resources, or other relevant tribal government departments and positions
Where: Virtual
Date: November 4, 2021
Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mountain Time (3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time)
Why: Your participation is critically important to help us develop a report that reflects your input and addresses your issues. We want to hear directly from Native Nations about the status of unelectrified homes and electricity reliability issues in tribal communities and explore challenges and potential solutions with you. This listening session is an opportunity for you to have input into the development of the report to Congress.
What’s next: A follow-up listening session in 2022 will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss and review the report’s findings and provide feedback on the recommendations.
How to participate: Register today to secure your spot. A calendar invite, call-in number, and join link will be sent once you have registered. Prior to the event, we will provide polling and survey questions to best prepare you for engagement during the session.
If you have any questions, please submit them to IndianEnergy@hq.doe.gov.
Please note: This listening session has a participant capacity limit. Tribal leaders and staff will be given priority to attend if the limit is reached. A recording of the listening session will be available online following the event
