The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) provides minimum Federal standards for the removal of Indian children from their families and placement in foster and adoptive homes. Judges presiding over child custody cases involving ICWA serve the critical function of overseeing compliance with ICWA protections at every stage of a case. This webinar is the sixth and final in a multipart series concerning the application of ICWA in State courts and the relation of Tribal courts to these cases. A panel of experienced judges will discuss the judicial implications of ICWA such as transfer jurisdiction, findings, evidentiary standards, and cultural considerations. CLE has been requested.
