HHS Tribal Consultation – Region 1

HHS would like to continue discussions regarding strengthening its Tribal Consultation Policy pursuant to the Presidential Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships. According to the DTLL, a special workgroup of the Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee (STAC) will convene to review written comments and develop a strengthened Tribal Consultation Policy. Once complete, the plan and policy will be announced for formal Tribal consultation by fall with the intention of having an updated policy by the first quarter of 2022.

This year’s Region 1 HHS Regional Tribal Consultation will be held virtually on July 27, 2021 from 11am to 5pm EDT. Our session is designed to provide Tribal Leaders with the opportunity to address HHS on how the Department can improve Tribal outreach and coordination and to discuss programmatic and policy issues and concerns.
