FEMA Consultation on Tribal Mitigation Planning Policy
July 27, 2023 @ 2:00 pm CDT
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing a Tribal consultation to update its Tribal Mitigation Plan Review Guide. This Guide was last updated in 2017 and is also known as the Trial Mitigation Planning Policy. FEMA’s official mitigation policy regulations are found at 44 CFR Part 201 and outline the rules for creating and updating Tribal mitigation plans. This policy assists FEMA officials in reviewing Tribal mitigation plans as well as informs Tribal Nations what the plan must include to receive FEMA approval.
