Purpose: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Department of Interior (DOI) have joined together to support partnerships with the InterTribal Buffalo Council (ITBC), Native Americans and Philanthropy (NAP) World Wildlife Fund (WWF), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and other non-profit organizations in initiatives that support Tribally-led buffalo restoration as well as enhance youth opportunities, food sovereignty, economic and workforce development. These relationships and public-private partnership opportunities improve upon the federal investments already being made by USDA-DOI Buffalo Initiative in grasslands and working lands restoration, tribal buffalo conservation and expansion, and opening tribal buffalo market opportunities.
