Register

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) at the Aspen Institute is pleased to announce a live discussion with Paulina Alexis (Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation). Paulina’s most recent film, BEANS, is the critically acclaimed coming-of-age story that had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Based on true events, Tracey Deer’s award-winning debut feature chronicles the 79-day standoff between two Mohawk communities and government forces in 1990 Quebec.

To commemorate the release of this powerful film, CNAY will be hosting a virtual Zoom discussion with Paulina Alexis on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 7:00-8:00pm EST. This conversation will also include Native youth leaders who work to increase representation of Indigenous voices in main-stream media.

Featured speakers and panelists will include:

  • Nikki Pitre, Executive Director, The Center for Native American Youth
  • Paulina Alexis, Actress
  • Kaliko Kalāhiki, Youth Advisory Board, The Center for Native American Youth
  • Laura Deloodeneenła Ekada, Generation Indigenous Ambassador
  • Isabella Madrigal, 2020 Champion for Change

Join in celebrating the rise of Indigenous representation. Register early, via the link below, and share this invitation with colleagues and those in your network who may be interested in the event. This event will be streamed live to our Facebook page.
