2021 Wabanaki Conference (online)

On Saturday, June 12 at 9 a.m., as part of a recognition of the 20th anniversary of the passage of LD291, the Wabanaki Studies law, English professor Margo Lukens will present on ways to work with Penobscot stories in the secondary classroom. Presenting with her will be Ashton Carmichael, a 9th-grade English teacher in RSU67 (Mattanawcook Academy) who studied Wabanaki literature with Lukens in spring 2021. For ENG 542, Carmichael created a unit using Penobscot stories to meet Maine language arts standards.
