White House Summit for Strengthening the Nation’s Early Warning System for Health Threats
April 19, 2022 –
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) will host the Summit for Strengthening the Nation’s Early Warning System for Health Threats – in support of the launch of the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics.
The Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) is a new center established as a national resource at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CFA’s goal is to enable timely, effective decision-making to improve outbreak response using data, models, and analytics. The center will grow to support government and community leaders, with a focus on identifying and addressing the needs of our Nation’s most vulnerable communities. Analogous to a National Weather Service for infectious diseases, the center will also develop resources to provide insights about infectious disease events to the public. Planning for the CFA began in August 2021 with initial funding of $200 million from the American Rescue Plan.
