The public is invited to the first meeting of the Committee on Community Wastewater-based Infectious Disease Surveillance. This virtual meeting will bring together the committee, the study sponsors, and experts to begin discussing how this study will proceed in assessing the potential value of community-level wastewater-based infectious disease surveillance. Wastewater surveillance was used in many communities in the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic to understand virus trends and inform public health decisions, and the committee will explore the value of this method for understanding and preventing the spread of other infectious diseases in the U.S. beyond COVID-19.
