Native Farm Bill Coalition: Post-Election Webinar

November 19 @ 12:00 pm CST

The 2024 election brought significant change to the federal landscape. As the dust continues to settle, the Native Farm Bill Coalition remains confident that Indian Country is in a good position to advance major priorities in the upcoming Farm Bill.

With Republicans taking control of the executive, the Senate, and likely the House of Representatives, 2025 may offer a better chance to break the gridlock that has stalled the Farm Bill reauthorization.

The House Agriculture Committee’s version of the Farm Bill, which includes 46 Tribal provisions, including making the 638 FDPIR pilot program permanent, could serve as the starting point for negotiations in the 119th Congress. Senator John Boozman, who will likely chair the Senate Agriculture Committee, has previously stated his support for the House Farm Bill provisions. While there is still work to be done to refine the House language and advocate for the inclusion of additional Tribal priorities, Indian Country is in a good place with the Farm Bill.

The conclusion of the election provides a clear path forward for planning and advocacy. Throughout the last two years, we have focused on building broad, bipartisan relationships, and we are confident in our ability to navigate the 119th Congress. We look forward to educating new lawmakers and working collaboratively to advance Indian Country’s priorities in the Farm Bill.
