The next public meeting of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC) will be held on July 10, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time. 

Treasury Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Nellie Liang will chair the meeting on behalf of the Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and will be joined by the Vice Chair of the FLEC, Rohit Chopra, Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  Martin Gruenberg, Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Michael Hsu, Acting Comptroller of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Ali Khawar, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, Cindy Marten, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, and Jeffrey Buckner, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, will also participate.

The meeting will be focused on consumer financial fraud and scams and will feature two panel discussions.  The first panel will discuss recent trends in financial fraud and recourse options for consumers.  The second panel will discuss innovative financial education strategies to address consumer fraud.
