The Department of Justice invites to send representatives to the Twin Cities Regional Office of the Department of Interior’s Office of the Solicitor on September 26-27 for a regional meeting, including the Office of Tribal Justice and Environment and Natural Resources Division, and other federal agencies to discuss Tribal treaty rights and climate adaptation.  The focus of the discussion with DOJ and federal agency representatives will be on improving outcomes in treaty rights litigation and settlements and how DOJ and other federal agencies can support Tribal climate adaptation and resilience planning.  The discussions will include opportunities for joint discussions on these topics between federal representatives and Tribal representatives, as well as opportunities for federal and Tribal groups to meet separately.

This meeting is the second in a series of meetings to discuss regionally significant environmental issues.  They plan to build off of the comments they received at DOJ’s November 28, 2022 Listening Session and Federal/Tribal Summit in Columbia, SC in February 2023 to inform these discussions.
