NIHB Webinar – Healing and Violence Prevention in Tribal Communities
November 22, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm CST
What: Webinar on Tribal healing practices for violence prevention
When: Monday, November 22, 2021
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm Eastern
Who should attend? Tribal public health/health professionals, Tribal leaders, community members, and partners working with AI/AN communities on violence prevention
Join the National Indian Health Board and our esteemed experts to discuss the ways in which healing is critical to prevent against future violence in Tribal communities. Last year, NIHB hosted a series of conversations with Tribal public health practitioners, service providers, and experts to strengthen understanding about current practices, programs, policies and needs for violence prevention in Tribal communities. One of the things we heard during those sessions was the need to focus on Tribal ways of healing in order to prevent violence.
This webinar will explore what healing looks like, what role(s) healing has in preventing violence, and some examples of how healing has been incorporated into violence programs in Tribal communities. We will also explore the ways in which healing for violence prevention can be supported by non-Tribal partners.
