NIHB Webinar: COVID-19 and Influenza – What to Expect this Flu Season
October 13, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm CDT
What: COVID-19 and Influenza: What to Expect This Flu Season
When: Wednesday, October 13, 2021
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Eastern Time
Who should attend? The intended audience for this webinar is physicians, nurses, pharmacists, health educators, other clinicians, and public health professionals interested in influenza vaccination guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the increased risk that individuals with chronic health conditions often face with the flu infection.
The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm ET. As the United States prepares for the 2021-22 influenza season that begins in October, questions abound regarding how to deal with both COVID-19 and flu at the same time. This webinar will provide information on what to expect this season to minimize flu and pneumonia infections during the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss the potential risk to those with underlying medical conditions during the current flu season.
Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe influenza, other respiratory conditions, and COVID-19 in terms of their signs and populations at high risk of disease complications.
- Discuss the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations on the use of influenza vaccines to minimize flu and pneumonia infections during the COVID-19 pandemic.
